Coach Kam: Coach Kam is a USAT Certified Coach, Personal Trainer and Triathlete. She moved in 2014 to NC from Pittsburgh, PA, where she served as the Lead Training Coordinator for the Pittsburgh Triathlon Club. She started KaMOTION, a personal training and multi-sport coaching company, created to provide a flexible platform and comfortable atmosphere for any type of individual, and cater to the goals of each person.

Coach Kam started running in college to get in better shape, before that was the occasional elliptical and bike ride with her Dad. After she met her goal of running the College 3 mile loop, she fell in love with running, and trained and raced, until she suffered from a lower back injury in 2007. After rehabilitation, she started training for her first triathlon as realized varying sports could help her stay healthy and injury free. After completing the “Iron Girl” sprint triathlon, she was hooked! Coach Kam has participated in two Ragnar Relays, numerous Sprint, Olympic, Half and Full distance triathlons, including Ironman Louisville and Ironman Wisconsin. She competed in Age Group Nationals, short-course, in Wisconsin. She is a cyclist and competed in Road Races in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, along with Time Trials and Criterium races. She qualified for the International Triathlon Union Long-Course World Championships held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and will represent Team USA at ITU Long-Course Worlds September 2016.

Coach Kam received an MPH in Health Promotion and a MA in International Development. She has a PhD in Social and Behavioral Health Sciences, and is the President of Insight Health, a small women owned consulting firm. She believes in giving back to a community that gave her so much over the years in becoming a triathlete and a well-balanced citizen in her community.

Coach Jon: Coach Jon has been involved with elite level athletics for over 20 years starting with Div. I Football, shifting to triathlon, cycling, and ultra-distance trail racing in 1994. Coach Jon is cofounder and coach for KaMOTION. Coach Jon serves as head Masters swim coach at the Morrisville Fitness and Aquatics Center. Coach Jon is a former certified USAT coach, USA Cycling coach and USA Cycling official. He served as head triathlon coach for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Team in Training, and swim coach for the University of Pittsburgh Team Pittsburgh Masters Swimming.

While living and training in Boulder, CO during the 90s, Jon crossed paths with Phil Maffetone, completely changing his training philosophy. Maffetone is known for transforming Mark Allen from a perennial Ironman Hawaii runner-up into a 6 time Ironman Hawaii World Champion. Mark Allen still owns the Kona run record set during the 1989 “Iron War”, which remains the mark to beat to this day at 2:40. This mentor relationship propelled Jon to a higher caliber of racing and provided a coaching model that he now passes on to his clients. This model challenged the “no pain, no gain” mentality that permeated endurance sports. Maffetone is one of the first to introduce a low heart rate method of training, including targeted speed and strength work. Training slower to race faster is a basic building block for any endurance athlete.

Coach Jon has been involved with coaching for over 20 years and has worked with all levels of athletes, ages, and in a wide variety of sports including triathlon, cycling, high school varsity football and running. While retired from running and triathlon due to two lower back surgeries, his love of endurance sports keeps him racing his road bike.
